Afro Nation 2026

Afro Nation Portugal 2026 once again turned Praia da Rocha, in Portimão, into the European capital of Afrobeats and amapiano, from 3 to 5 July. In the festival’s sixth edition, more than 40,000 people a day, from over 180 countries, filled the beachfront grounds for three days of music, dance and celebration of African culture.

The LIT Stage was headlined by Burna Boy and Tyla on Friday, Asake and Olamide on Saturday, and Wizkid closing out the festival on Sunday, with performances also from Gunna, Mariah the Scientist, Awilo Longomba, Bien, Darkoo, Niska, Denden, Djodje and Young Jonn. The Piano People Stage brought South African sounds from Madumane, Focalistic, Daliwonga, Mellow & Sleazy and Zee Nxumalo, among others, while this edition also marked festival debuts for Kehlani, Ludmilla and Theodora.

Among the standout moments of the night was the crowd singing Happy Birthday to Burna Boy during his set, and Tyla being presented with a special plaque in recognition of her career. Pyrotechnics, large-scale LED screens and a line-up of hosts including Shopsydoo and Willz Wida Vibez rounded out the production, while the YAM Food Court brought African and Caribbean flavours to the site.

Produced by MOT – Memories of Tomorrow, Afro Nation Portugal once again affirmed itself as the world’s biggest celebration of African music and culture, cementing Praia da Rocha as the destination of choice for this global movement.
