Afro Nation 2023

Afro Nation Portugal 2023 proved to be a historic edition of the festival, once again co-promoted by MOT – Memories of Tomorrow. Over three days, Praia da Rocha brought together more than 40,000 fans from 140 countries, making this the most memorable edition of the event ever.

The opening night was marked by Burna Boy’s performance, accompanied by electrifying concerts by Aya Nakamura, Popcaan, Ayra Starr, and Nissi. The second day ended with Wizkid, in a lineup that also included Asake, Little Simz, Bnxn, Black Sherif, Ms Banks, and Tyla. The last day brought Davido to the main stage, alongside names such as 50 Cent and Booba, as well as Fireboy DML, Sauti Sol, Gyakie, and Nelson Freitas, in a global celebration of Afro and urban music.

Since its debut in Portugal in 2019, Afro Nation has more than doubled in size, establishing itself today as a global phenomenon. Its expansion into new territories, including North America and Africa, reinforces the festival’s position at the center of the international movement that celebrates African culture and music.
