Between October 16 and 25, 2020, Portimão once again took center stage in international motorsport with the return of Formula 1 to Portugal, 24 years after its last appearance on Portuguese soil. Alongside the on-track action, the Portimão MotorSports Village, produced by MOT – Memories of Tomorrow, became the focal point of the off-track experience.
Over four days, more than 15,000 visitors attended the venue, operating under a carefully designed safety model, with strict access control and a maximum of 850 people allowed simultaneously. Mandatory mask use, frequent hand sanitization, and continuous awareness measures ensured a safe and confident experience for all attendees. These procedures were widely highlighted by the national media as a benchmark for event production during challenging times.
Beyond motorsport, the MotorSports Village delivered unforgettable cultural moments, including a special concert by Mariza, who enchanted over 600 attendees with iconic songs such as “Gente da Minha Terra” and “Melhor de Mim”.
Executed with high technical and operational standards, the Portimão MotorSports Village stood out for its organizational excellence, public safety focus, and its role in positioning Portimão as the epicenter of motorsport in Portugal during the Grand Prix week.
The project’s success was internationally recognized with two awards at the Lusophone Creativity Awards: Silver in Sports Events and Bronze in Large-Scale Events.
