JUNE FREEDOM MADE HIS APPEARANCE IN PORTUGAL IN FEBRUARY 2024 WITH TWO CONCERTS AS PART OF HIS EUROPEAN TOUR. DINO D’SANTIAGO, NÉLSON FREITAS, AND DJODJE JOINED THE ARTIST ON STAGE.
As part of his European tour, the Afro/Pop rising artist, blending his Cape Verdean and American roots, presented himself in two exclusive concerts in Lisbon and Porto on February 7th and 8th, in a co-production by Live Nation and the Portuguese company MOT, in association with CAA.
June Freedom, a “son of Cape Verde living the American Dream,” was in Portugal for a concert as part of his European tour presenting the new album “7 Seas,” which took place in Lisbon on July 7th.
LAV – Lisboa ao Vivo was the chosen venue for June Freedom’s exclusive solo concert in Portugal, recently honored with two awards at the Cabo Verde Music Awards. The Porto date was eventually canceled by the artist due to health reasons.
In the Lisbon concert, the artist had three special guests: Dino D’Santiago, Nélson Freitas, and Djodje.
June Freedom’s growth has been felt around the world, and praise for the artist’s creations is starting to come globally. He has already gained over 1.5 million monthly listeners on Spotify and 71 million streams on all platforms, making him the most listened-to Cape Verdean artist of 2023, surpassing legends like Cesária Évora and Nelson Freitas.
This concert was promoted and co-produced by Live Nation and MOT in collaboration with CAA.
BIOGRAPHY OF JUNE FREEDOM
He was born in Boston, United States of America, but spent much of his youth in Cape Verde, the home country of his family, returning to the US where he lived in New York and Los Angeles. This cultural fusion and his immense love for music led the multicultural artist to the peak of his career, which began in 2021, as the main Afropop revelation artist from Cape Verde.
Uninhibited and very innovative, June Freedom seeks to blend various musical styles in each creation, ranging from alt-Pop, Worldbeat, Zouk, Kizomba to Hip-Hop, expressing himself in English, Portuguese, Spanish, and Creole. This undeniably unique fusion of transatlantic sounds resulted in the success of June’s first full album, “Anchor Baby.” On the anniversary of his first album, June released a restructured version of “Anchor Baby (Deluxe),” which further expanded the artist’s already conquering successes worldwide, having already been publicly supported by industry giants such as Jerry Wonda, Stacy Barthe, Mally Mall, or the multi-platinum Akon.
In October 2023, June Freedom released his latest album “7 SEAS” and with it the European tour presenting his new work, which took place in early 2024 and included cities such as Berlin, London, Paris, Madrid, Barcelona, and Lisbon.
