After the success of the events in 2018, 2019 and 2020 (Digital Christmas – online), MOT once again produced Castelo Mágico, the largest Christmas theme park in Montemor-o-Velho in the heart of Portugal.
This was a special event given that it was organised based on health and safety measures due to COVID-19. Despite all the measures in place and extra care taken, the event was a success, with thousands of visitors to the area, 84 hours of shows and entertainment and several days at maximum capacity.
Also playing a part in the dream trip for Christmas 2021 were the television channels SIC (Domingão), RTP (Aqui Portugal) and Nickelodeon, as well as some special surprises – three acoustic concerts by Alberto Índio, Mico da Câmara Pereira and José Cid.
It was a veritable enchanted world, filled with experiences, stories and lots of fun and games: an ice rink for “endless tumbles”, a Hemispherium showing incredible films, never-ending jumps on bouncy castles, all the extreme emotion of ziplining on the castle walls, a thousand and one rides on the magical merry-go-round, the animals at the Petting Zoo, the Leonardo da Vinci exhibition for learning more about science, a delightful Christmas market, Santa Claus’ house and unlimited gift requests, the original play “A Ceia de Natal” and the constant street entertainment provided by Kilig, as well as the always tempting Praça da Restauração eating area. These were just some of the activities at the event, which this year included tree climbing once again, an activity that only the bravest dare to undertake.
Produced by MOT and promoted by Montemor-o-Velho Municipal Council, the media partners for Castelo Mágico were RFM, the Renascença Group and Nickelodeon. Its institutional partners were the Coimbra Region Intermunicipal Community and Ciência Viva de Coimbra.
