After a year and a half with no significant event in Portugal, MOT – Memories of Tomorrow went against all odds and made it possible to hold one of the most anticipated shows.
On 25 and 26 June, Coimbra City Stadium played host to two concerts by Andrea Bocelli, one of the most acclaimed voices in the world. Mariza, the Portuguese music ambassador, was the special guest and teamed up with Andrea Bocelli to sing “Bésame Mucho”. The fado singer also took part in another memorable moment singing “Gente da Minha Terra” and received one of the evening’s longest-standing ovations. Other guests at the concert included the singer Maria Aleida and the duo Carisma. The first part featured the best opera arias, and the second part was devoted to hits of the tenor’s career, including “Con Te Partirò” and “Nessun Dorma”.
It was only possible to hold a concert of this magnitude with a well thought out contingency plan, strictly handled. All safety measures, such as mandatory mask-wearing, hand sanitisation and temperature measurement, were complied with and welcomed by the audience. Following a thorough inspection, the Andrea Bocelli show was deemed Covid Safe by the Biocant Microbiology Unit, a Technology Transfer Association.
Special thanks to the entire team involved, who made this event possible, and to all our partners and suppliers.
